ABSTRACT

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of monopolar radiofrequency combined with ultrasound for abdominal obesity. Methods:A total of 24 patients (4 males, 20 females, average age was 35 years) were given monopolar radiofrequency combined with ultrasound treatment four times at (10±4) day interval at Beijing Friendship Hospital during December 2015 to December 2016. Body weight and abdomen circumferences were recorded before and after each treatment. Subcutaneous adipose tissue thickness was measured with B ultrasound at baseline and after the last treatment. 2 months after the last treatment, a third party would assess the improvement; at the same time, volunteers would assess the outcome with Global Aesthetic International Scale. Blood lipid level, liver function and renal function were tested at baseline and after the third treatment. All the treatment related adverse effect would be noted as well. Results:There was no significant difference of body weight after the treatment. The abdomen circumferences were decreased at 2 month after the last treatment, especially for the navel one, which decreased from (96.14±11.92) cm at baseline to (93.82±10.77) cm, t=4.21, P<0.05. And the subcutaneous adipose tissue thickness also decreased from (25.56±4.3) mm to (24.31±3.77) mm, ( t=6.26, P<0.05). 2 months after the last treatment, 16 volunteers were graded as 1-25% improvement, 8 volunteers were graded as 26%-50% improvement. According to GAIS, 2, 18 and 4 volunteers assess the outcome was regarded as 0 score, 1 score and 2 score respectively. The treatments showed no influence to blood lipid level, liver function and renal function. The treatment processing was tolerated well and no side effect were noted. Conclusions:Monopolar radiofrequency combined with ultrasound treatment for abdominal obesity is effective and safe.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the correlation of sleep disorders(SD)with serum levels of amyloid β-proteins(Aβ 1-42)and tau phosphorylated at threonine(P-Tau 181)in patients with Alzheimer's disease(AD). Methods:A total of 126 patients with mild and moderate AD who met the inclusion criteria in the memory clinic, sleep clinic and geriatrics department of Jianghan Oilfield General Hospital affiliated to Yangtze University from February 2017 to January 2020 were included. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)was used to evaluate sleep quality.Patients with PSQI scores ≥7 were included in the AD group with sleep disorders(AD-SD group), and patients with PSQI scores <7 were included in the AD group without sleep disorders(AD-NSD group). The Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA), Global Deterioration Scale(GDS), Clinical Dementia Rating(CDR), Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression(HRSD)and Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale(HAM-A)were used to evaluate cognitive and psychosocial symptoms.During the same time, biological markers such as serum Aβ 1-42, Aβ 1-40 and P-Tau 181 were detected by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays.Patients in the two groups received donepezil as an anti-dementia therapy, while the AD-SD group was treated additionally with a targeted sleep intervention. All patients underwent neuropsychological assessment and biochemical tests at enrollment and at the end of the 6th month, and results from all parameters at baseline and at the end of the 6th month were compared. At the end of the six-month treatment, patients in the AD-SD group were further divided into the recovery AD-SD sub-group and the no-recovery AD-SD sub-group based on the extent of sleep improvement. Results:Of the 126 AD patients, 93(73.8%)had sleep disorders. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in gender, age, onset age, educational level, course of disease, CDR, GDS, MoCA, Aβ 1-40 or Aβ 1-42/Aβ 1-40(all P>0.05). The scores of PSQI, HRSD and HAM-A and serum levels of Aβ 1-42 and p-Tau 181 showed statistically significant differences between the AD-ND and AD-NSD groups( P<0.05 or P<0.01). At the end of the 6th month, the scores of PSQI, GDS, HRSD and HAM-A and levels of Aβ 1-42, Aβ 1-40, and P-Tau 181 also showed statistically significant differences between the AD-ND and AD-NSD groups( P<0.05 or P<0.01). There was no statistically significant difference in results from other parameters( P>0.05). Spearman correlation analysis showed that PSQI was correlated with HRSD( r=0.271, P=0.009), HAM-A( r=0.479, P=0.000), Aβ 1-42( r=0.470, P=0.000), Aβ 1-42/ Aβ 1-40( r=0.479, P=0.000)and P-Tau 181( r=0.371, P=0.000)in the AD-SD group at baseline.Multivariate Logistic regression model showed that serum Aβ 1-42 and P-Tau 181 levels and HRSD had predictive effects on changes in sleep quality in AD patients( OR=1.897, 1.269 and 1.889, P=0.000, 0.003 and 0.000). The areas under the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves for Aβ 1-42, P-Tau 181 and HRSD were 0.926(95% CI: 0.860-0.991), 0.837(95% CI: 0.746-0.927)and 0.854(95% CI: 0.776-0.932), respectively. Conclusions:Sleep quality is correlated with serum Aβ 1-42and P-Tau 181 levels in AD patients.Elevated serum levels of Aβ 1-42 and P-Tau 181 and high HRSD scores are important predictors of SD in AD patients and may be used as indexes for clinical treatment efficacy.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To understand neglect and its associated factors among migrant middle school students in Tianjin, and to help them develop physically and mentally.@*Methods@#A survey of 3 666 middle school students in 10 middle schools located in migrant gathering regions was conducted. Neglect and associated factors were collected and compared between migrant and non-migrant students.@*Results@#The neglect rate of migrant middle school students in Tianjin was 45.79% and that of non-migrant students was 31.37%, the difference was statistically significant (χ2=56.25, P<0.01). The total neglect of middle school students who moved with them was (52.46±8.12) points; the neglect of boys, junior high schools, non-only children, fathers and mothers with high school education and below were significantly higher than those of girls, high schools, single children, and parents with high school education (t=3.73, 10.40, -11.36, 13.81, 15.57, P<0.01). The longer the follow-up period and the lower the family income, the higher the degree of neglect among the middle school students, and the difference was statistically significant (F=89.27, 53.48, P<0.01). Regression analysis showed that the following time (OR=3.55), whether the only child (OR=4.19) showed a positive correlation with the neglect of middle school students; family income (OR=0.71), parental education (OR=0.48, 0.25) were negatively correleted with neglect (P<0.05).@*Conclusion@#The neglect of middle school students in Tianjin is serious. The time of family migration, family income and parental education are important factors affecting neglect.

ABSTRACT

Objective The aim of this study was to explore whether the down-regulation of tumor suppressor gene PRDM5 is one of the mechanisms of HPV16 virus infection leading to cervical cancer. Methods The expressions of PRDM5 protein and HPV16 E6/HPV18 E6 protein in cervical cancer tissues and normal cervical tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry. After transfected with HPV16 E6 shRNA plasmid, the expression of PRDM5 gene was detected in SiHa cells by RT-PCR and Western blot. Results The positive expression rate of HPV 16/18 E6 in cervical cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in normal cervical tissues. The expression level of PRDM5 protein in cervical cancer tissues was lower than that in normal cervical tissues. After HPV16 E6 shRNA3 was transfected into SiHa cells to interfere with the expression of HPV16 E6 gene, the expression of PRDM5 at mRNA and protein levels was up-regulated in SiHa cells. Conclusion PRDM5 may mediate the development of cervical cancer caused by HPV16 virus infection.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the expression of cyclase-Associated protein 1 (CAP1) in breast cancer tissues and its clinical significance. Methods: Overall 93 specimens of breast cancer tissues and the paracancerous tissues were collected. The expressions of CAP1 and Ki-67 in breast cancer tissues and the para-cancerous tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry. The correlations of CAP1 with clinicopathological features and the prognosis were analyzed. Results: The expression levels of CAP1 and Ki-67 in breast cancer tissues were higher than those in the para-cancerous tissues (both P 0.05). There was a positive correlation between CAP1 expression and Ki-67 in breast cancer tissues (r 2 = 0.403, P = 0.002). The differentiation, axillary lymph node status, CAP1 expression and Ki-67 were independent prognostic factors of breast cancer (all P < 0.05). Conclusion: The expression of CAP1 is high in breast cancer tissues. CAP1 may play an important role in proliferation in breast cancer cells.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of low?level laser therapy(LLLT)for androgenetic alopecia, and to compare the therapeutic effect of LLLT alone versus in combination with finasteride tablets. Methods Thirty?nine male patients were randomly divided into the LLLT group(n=21)and combination group(n=18)to be treated with LLLT alone or in combination with oral finasteride tablets(1 mg/d)for 6 months. LLLT was given twice a week, and each session lasted 30 minutes. All the patients were photographed and asked to fill a questionnaire about subjective symptoms, and hair density (the number of hairs per unit area on the scalp) was determined by using a dermatoscope to evaluate the grade of alopecia, before the treatment, and 3 and 6 months after the treatment. Results The hair density in the LLLT group was significantly higher after 6 months than after 3 months of treatment and before the treatment(184.59 ± 21.17 vs. 169.24 ± 29.21 and 166.67 ± 32.94 hairs/cm2, both P 0.05). The hair density in the combination group significantly increased after 6 and 3 months of treatment compared with that before the treatment(201.80 ± 16.55 and 186.39 ± 17.97 vs. 157.85 ± 27.97 hairs/cm2, both P 0.05), but the combination group showed increased hair density compared with the LLLT group after 3 and 6 months of treatment(both P 0.05). During the treatment, 24(62%)patients felt less greasy, and 22(56%)reported less hair loss, with no discomforts reported by the patients except local warm feeling. Conclusion LLLT is indeed effective for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia with no adverse reactions.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the relationship between insulin resistance and renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RASS) in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus, and to provide the best treatment for type 2 diabetes mellitus with hypertension . Methods Ninety cases of newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus were included. After stratified by gender, all the patients were divided into hypertension group and non-hypertension group. According to whether taking hypotensor, the patients with hypertension were further divided into non-medication group, calcium channel blockers (CCB) group, and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB) group respectively. Results In female patients with hypertension, the IAI, levels of rennin and angiotensin II were higher than those in non-hypertension group and the systolic pressure of female patients taking ARB was lower than those taking CCB. Pearson′s correlation analysis showed that angiotensin II and aldosterone was positively correlated with HOMA-IR but negatively correlated with IAI in females. Conclusions In female newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus , RASS is related to the development of insulin resistance , so RASS antagonists are the first choice to achieve better blood glucose control in female patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the expression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in cervical car-cinoma and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN),and to elucidate its relation with the genesis, infiltration, metas-tasis and prognosis of cervical carcinoma. Methods EGFR was determined by means of S-P immunohistochemistry in tissue of 100 cases of cervical carcinoma,60 cases of CIN and 40 cases of controls. Results The overexpression rates of EGFR were 0% (0/40), 51.67% (31/60),78.00% (78/100), respectively in normal cervical epithelium, CIN and cervical tumor tissues. The overexpression rate of EGFR was significantly higher in cervical tumor tissue than in control group(P<0.01). The overexpression of EGFR didn't demonstrate significant association with clinical staging, tumor size, pathological type, differentiation, cervical invasion depth, cervical canal invasion, lymphnode me-tastasis or the prognosis of cervical neoplasm (P>0.05). Conclusion Overexpression of EGFR is worsened with the severity of cervical lesion, suggesting that overexpression of EGFR is correlated with the genesis of cervical neo-plasms,which may be a valuable biological indicator of cervical carcinoma, but is not correlated with clinical patho-logical features and prognosis of cervical carcinoma.
